President Bob Rule's  Welcome

WHAT DOES NAFYR DO?

NAFYR, the North American Fellowship of YMCA
Retirees, is an 86-year-old organization of some 3,000
men and women who have worked for the YMCA in the
USA and/or Canada. The membership represents
almost every position YMCAs have, including
executives, program staff, housekeepers, office staff,
administrators, instructors and others. Spouses,
widows and widowers are also eligible to join.

Through 21 chapters covering all the USA, members
meet generally two to four times a year for programs
that are educational, recreational, stimulating, and
inspirational. Members enjoy the same kind of
fellowship they did when they staffed the YMCAs that
serve communities all across the continent. They also
provide charitable assistance to YMCA projects such as
World Service, local YMCAs, an Emergency Assistance
Fund that provides grants up to $10,000 for YMCA staff
and NAFYR members who have critical financial
emergencies. Members have an International Senior
Service Corps that sends members to YMCAs in other
countries to assist them in times of need.

Bound together in a common loyalty to the charitable
organization they served, the members make up a
network that keeps them close to the work they loved.
